The Warriors won first place in the conference for the first time in schol history.

The Metro Conference tournament started on Feb. 20, 2001. The Warriors entered the conference tournament with a record of 17-1. Lutheran Northwest was the first opponent and the Warriors played Lutheran North. North bussed about 50 fans in to cheer, but their cheers wer not even heard over the loud chant of "This is OUr House" and the Warrior fight song provided by Mr. Knorp and the Band.

The Warriors played strong defense and overpowered the Mustangs with a vicotry of 59-43. The team wasn't as successful in the District Tournament as they were in the Conference Tournament. The first game was against Ida. The Warriors had a beginning games lead, and they played a tough game, but the final score was Ida 50, Westland 47.
