Game 1 - Dec. 6, 2005

Lutheran Westland - 54 Ply. Christian - 38

Lutheran High Westland started off the season with a bang!  After taking a quick 10-0 lead against Plymouth Christian in the first 3 minutes of the game they never lost the lead.  Plymouth Christian did stick a round, cutting the lead to five at half, 25-20.  The Warriors came out and started the second half as they did the first and took the lead by 15, played great team defense, and won their first of the year.

Game 2 - Dec. 8, 2005

Lutheran Westland - 47 So. Christian - 51

Lutheran High Westland takes their first loss of the year in a close one.  After, being down by 5 to start the first quarter it was back and forth battle, but rebounding was the thing that hurt Westland the most giving up 10 offensive boards in the first half and and the end of the half being down by one 25-26.  Westland came out strong in the 3rd taking the lead by four, but then poor shooting caused the Warriors to fall behind.  Trailing by 6 to start the 4th quarter the Warriors could never regain the lead and lost by four.

Game 3 - Dec. 13, 2005

Lutheran Westland - 61 Annapolis - 62

Lutheran High Westland takes their second loss of the year in another close one.  It was a very physical and aggressive game with both teams going back and forth basket after basket.  There was a great effort given by both teams but in the end the Warriors lost.  Rebounding was not the cause, however, as the Warriors pulled down 29 offensive rebound and 45 rebounds over all.  Free throws were the biggest problem with the Warriors.  Shooting 5 of 18 from the line and losing by only one point shows how free throws can either win or lose you the game.  In the last 5 seconds the Warriors were able to get the ball down the court for a 15 ft. jumper for the win, but the shot missed and the buzzer sounded with the Warriors still down by one.

Game 4 - Dec. 16, 2005

Lutheran Westland - 55 IC Baptist - 71

Shooting was the Warriors problem again.  After falling behind early in the first quarter, the Warriors were not able to climb back in to the game.  Inter-City Baptist did not seem to have the same problem as they shot about 50% from the three point line and shot over 40% from the field.  At half time the Warriors were down 17 points and were 9 for 31 from the field.

Game 5 - Jan. 3, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 67 Huron Valley Lutheran - 47

The Warriors put themselves back on track with a win over Huron Valley Lutheran.  After the long Christmas break, it was good for the warriors to get a win.  The Warriors led by 11 at half time and were determined not to let the Hawks back in the game.  The Warriors marched all over the Hawks in the 3rd quarter outscoring them 19 - 1.

Game 6 - Jan. 13, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 73 Hamtramck - 60

The Warriors start the conference off right with a win making them 1-0 in the conference.  It was a great team effort and great free throw shooting that helped them get the victory.  At half the Warriors were up by 10 but the Cosmos kept hanging around and cut the lead to 6 at the end of the third.  The Warriors ran away with it in the 4th quarter by owning the boards, fast breaking, and making some clutch free throws.

Game 7 - Jan. 17, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 65 University of Liggett - 43

The Warriors move on to become 2-0 in the conference with a win over University Liggett.  After half time the Warriors were only up by ten, but they put the Knights away early in the third quarter and there was no looking back.  The Warriors were up by 25 at the end of the third quarter and they rode it out for the victory.

Game 8 - Jan. 20, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 50 Clarenceville - 59

The Warriors fall in a close one to the Trojans of Clarenceville to move their conference record to 2-0 and  4-4 overall.  The Warriors were up for most of the first half and went out at half time up by 4.  In the third quarter,  Clarenceville couldn't miss and took the lead.  The Warriors were down by 6 at the end of the third.  The Warriors got within two points of the Trojans, could not regain the lead, and had to foul as time ran down.  Too many missed shots at the end cost the Warriors the victory.

Game 9 - Jan. 27, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 42 Cranbrook - 38

The Warriors pulled out a win in another close battle with the Cranes.  The Warriors started the game off with a big run taking the lead by seven, but poor shooting struck the Warriors and they went ice cold shooting 27% for the rest of the game.  After the first half Cranbrook had the lead, but the Warriors fought hard and stuck around.  It was not until late in the fourth quarter that the Warriors had a little run to put them back in the lead.  Going 10-14 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter helped the Warriors get the win and become 3-1 in the conference.

Game 10 - Jan. 31, 2006

Lutheran Westland 52 -  Clawson - 47

The warriors win another one, but it wasn't pretty.  The Warriors just let Clawson stick around the whole game, but the Warriors never lost the lead.  Turnovers and free throw shooting were very poor for the Warriors.  The only positives out of this one were rebounding and shooting.  However, with this victory the Warriors move to 4-1 in the conference.

Game 11 - Feb. 1, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 69 Lutheran South - 47

The Warriors, after having a slow start in the first half, came out big in the second half to ensure the victory.

Game 12 - Feb. 3, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 54 Lutheran North - 62

The Warriors fall short in a close one against the Mustangs.  The Warriors fought back to tie the game before the fourth quarter, but couldn't make the shots when they needed them the most.  The Warriors now fall to 4-2 in the conference.  It is a tough loss for the Warriors, because it could now jeopardize the position of the Warriors in the conference tournament depending on how they finish out the conference.

Game 13 - Feb. 7, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 35 Harper Woods - 81

The Warriors lose to an outstanding Harper Woods team, who have proven them selves to be the best in the conference.  The Warriors loss moves them to 4-3 in the conference.

Game 14 - Feb. 10, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 72 Lutheran Northwest - 67

The Warriors did not start off so hot in this one.  They fell behind fast and struggled to stick around, but got back to within ten at the end of the first half.  They were determined to come out big in the second half and that is just what they did.  The Warriors fought back to take the lead by 2 at the end of the third and kept up the defensive intensity in the fourth to get the victory.  The Warriors out scored the Crusaders 44-29 in the second half.  The victory clinched the 3rd seed spot in the conference tournament and gave the them an overall conference record of 5-3.

Game 15 - Feb. 17, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 43 Lutheran North - 52

The Warriors lose the first game in the conference tournament to the Mustangs.  The Warriors started it off with an early lead, but once they fell behind, they were never able to get it back.  The Warriors are hoping to get 5th place overall as their conference record falls to 5-4.

Game 16 - Feb. 21, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 52 Lutheran Northwest - 67

Warriors lose their second game of the conference tournament and now are playing for 7th place.  Shooting was the Warriors biggest problem, after going 10-38 from the field in the first half, the Warriors finished the game shooting 20-69.  This loss moves them to 5-5 in the conference.

Game 17 - Feb. 24, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 75  University of Liggett - 40

The warriors came out and took a big lead early, and were up by 22 at the end of the first quarter.  The Warriors kept the lead the rest of the way to give them their 6th victory in the conference.  They got 7th in the tournament and 5th overall in the conference.

Game 18 - Feb. 28, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 56 Detroit Urban - 59

The Warriors fall in another close one to Urban.  After being up most of the game, in the fourth quarter the Warriors couldn't make a shot when they needed it and made to many turnovers, letting Urban back into the game.  Once they lost the lead they were unable to get it back.

Game 19 - Mar. 2, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 51 Roeper - 31

This was Senior night for the Warriors and they wanted to have their last home game be one to remember.  The Seniors were Rob Considine, Kevin Frusti, Kevin Greening, Kyle Neumann, Paul Rosin, and Chelston Ross.  The Seniors started it off right with a quick three points to start off the game and it was smooth sailing form there for the Warriors to give them their 10th win of the year.

Game 20 - Mar. 3, 2006

Lutheran Wetland - 57 Cabrini - 62

The Warriors came out pretty slow and flat in the first quarter, which kept the Warriors down early and they struggled to be only down by a few at half.  The Warriors tried to come out strong in the second half and they were able to get to the free throw line enough to stick around, but the Warriors shot 5 for 31 from the field in the second half and were unable to get the victory.

Districts

Game 21 - Mar. 6, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 62 West Side Christian - 53

The Warriors came out to a slow start in the first few minutes but finally picked up the intensity in the second half. They took a big lead and were able to hold on. They got the victory despite foul trouble and some second half turnovers.  It was a nice team victory and now the Warriors move on the play Agape in the District Semi-Finals on Thursday at 6:30.

Game 22 - Mar. 9, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 70 Agape - 44

The Warriors came out on fire going up by and early ten and knocking down their first three triples.  After that, there was no turning back, especially after coming out in the second half and scoring 27 points in the third quarter.  The Warriors head to the district championship after not making it for the past few years.

Game 23 - Mar. 10, 2006

Lutheran Westland - 52 Redford Covenant - 82

The Warriors, despite knowing they were going to play one of the best teams in the state, came out with much intensity in the first half.  The Warriors were able to keep it close the whole first half, but despite their efforts the were unable to keep it up in the second half.  They fell behind early and were unable to get back.  The Warriors end the season with a winning record, 12-11.
