"Mama" Strang's Biography

Mrs. Donna Strang, one of the greatest teachers in Lutheran Westland, gave us a speech of her “journey." In her speech, she announced her retirement with sadness and tearfulness.

Mrs. Donna Strang is married to William Strang, who currently is the Girls' Varsity Basketball and Men's Junior Vasity Baseball coach. She has two children Kristen, who is a teacher, and Greg, who works for Missile Defense.

Mrs. Strang was born in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Concordia Teachers' College (Concordia University Chicago) in River Forest, Illinois in 1972. After she graduated from college, she received her first call. She became a first grade teacher of Nativity Lutheran in Detroit. She enjoyed teaching first-fourth grade students. Then she taught at Redford Lutheran and at Detroit Urban, and she became principal and teacher at Calvary Lutheran. Finally, she came to Lutheran High School Westland and taught for 19 years. While she was teaching, she also graduated from Wayne State University and received her MED.degree.

Mrs. Strang taught over 1400 students in the past 37 years. After her retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Strang will settle in Fairfield Glade Resort, TN.

Being called Mama Strang is another thing I will miss- it made me feel connected to my 'kids'. However, I won’t miss grading papers! ”
